This workshop is designed to build confidence and understanding of the basics of weaving. The workshop is open to teens who enjoy working with their hands, like to explore fiber materials or making things to decorate their rooms.
In this workshop, the aim will be to introduce textiles, weaving and exploration of fiber materials. Using our own handmade looms and weaving tools we’ll experiment with techniques from both modern tapestry weaving such as Rya knots (fringe) as well as classic hand-weaving techniques such as plain weave (tabby) and ribs. Working on their own loom and at their own pace, the aim is for these young artists to have fun, learn a new craft skill and build awareness of textiles as they will create their very own hand-woven textile.
